SUPPORT TO FIELD CAMPAIGN
What are the general needs to support field campaigns
It is often necessary to have an operational support during the campaigns to define the flight plans of the aircrafts deployed during the campaign, thanks to a real-time visualization of weather forecasts from various operational centers (Météo-France, ECMWF) and from various satellite data such as those from geostationary platforms. It is also necessary to have the possibility to display quicklooks of ground-based measurements deployed specifically during the campaign.
After the campaign, the finalized products of the observed data will also be stored and made available, documented for the various partners of the project.
What kind of support is proposed
To best fulfil the needs listed above, ESPRI offers various services to facilitate the organisation of measurement campaigns, to provide operational support. We describe below these services.
Services during the campaign
- Web tools to visualize different types of data (satellite, forecasts, campaign instruments, etc.). Possibility of “replaying” the campaign after the event.
- Tools for forecasting multi-satellite trajectories, balloons, etc.
- Aircraft flight planning tool
- Dynamic/interactive calculation (e.g. cross-section)
- Data availability calendar
- Monitoring and assistance 7 days a week during the campaign
- Website support to explain the campaign et the related scientific projects
- Collaborative space to share data, documents, ..(FTP, private documents, etc.)
